Welcoming everyone with psoriasis problems

Postby Chi » Fri Feb 10, 2006 2:39 pm

I would like to welcome all people that have psoriasis or know anyone that has psoriasis to learn more about it.

Please feel free to ask questions and don't be embarressed about it.

Treat this place as a home and be comfortable with it as probably most of us are here to learn more and have a supportive community as skin disorder is affecting all of us here.

I have this condition since for 20+ years now, from being embarressed, low-self esteem, hiding my conditions since elementary school days until now, working. I'm very glad to be here to talk about it with anyone here that feels the same way.

hello there again Chi,

Is Chi short for another name? Yes, I have had psoriasis myself for at least 15 years, and it surely must be one of the plaques described in the bible! A horrible disease no matter which way you look at it. I only wish it would be taken seriously by the medical profession. I saw so many doctors before I found one that could even tell me what I had. I was given prescription after prescription that did nothing but hurt. Nobody seemed to care at all, it was so embarrassing. You got to these people for help, and they make you feel like a lepper. (no offence to anyone with leoprocy!) Anyway, I eventually did my own research, I saw my own specialist who took a skin sample for testing and properly diagnosed me. Until then, I had not even heard of psoriasis........ turns out some distant relatives have had the diseas, which supports the theory that it is genetic or something like that.

hi chi - what do you do for work if you don't mind me asking. I try to avoid working in closed buildings that have central heating or cooling as I find these offices dry my skin. why can they not just leave a window open for fresh air?
