cost of dermalight

Postby John » Wed Jan 18, 2006 12:02 pm

Hi there,

the dermalight products look very good but why are they so expensive? For example, the following Irish company offers a broad band UVB full body unit for 599 GBP

I appreciate that narrow band bulbs maybe more expensive, but why over twice the price?

Thanks

Hello John and thank you for your question. Just like cars, you get what you pay for. Wide Band bulbs are signifigantly cheaper in some instances, also some bulbs are not medical quality and also have short life spans. The Dermalight products only use PHILIPS quality medical bulbs. Also, all Dermalight products are CE approved and electrically safe products. There are many manufacturers appearing with "less expensive" products now (many copy the Dermalight designs) but often they have no CE approval and use inferior bulbs or lamps. I know of one supplier in the middle east who is using REPTIL Ulta Violet lamps that are available from pet shops for about $5-$10. I am not saying this about the product you have mentioned as I am not familiar with it, but you need to compair apples with apples I suppose.

The only thing that's stopping me from trying new medication/treatments are the price.. I just don't earn enough to buy these.

oh yes, I agree. I am sure some years I spent the revenue of a small country tring every treatment available. It seems every time you go to the pharmacist they have a new cream designed for "psoriasis, eczema and dry skin." I don't think they are worth anything, I have tried them al and no good results, infact some hurt and a few even seem to make my psoriasis worse !!!!
