i read some where that baby oil (johnson and johnson) was good. on the same day i read that protein wasnt the best tihng either! - so i stopped taking a protien shake that i was taking, but also started putting baby oil on my affected areas twice a day in between advantan. the results have been great. before this my psoriasis was really starting to spread and flare up, but the flare up has gone and i am left with just the small areas that i previously had and even they aren't as bad. usually my psoriasis is raised (bumpy), but the oil seems to be a great moisturizer and smoothed it out (unless of course it is the cutting out the protein shake that is causing the resluts?!). I really feel it is the baby oil tho so give it a go i say and see how it works for u!

Hello there Cobba,

There is definately a correlation with removing excess protein from your diet with a drop in severity of psoriasis. Skin, nails and hair all feed on protein. There is no doubt Baby Oil is a gentle moisturiser, but it is unlikely to be having a largely dramatic affect by its self. But every body is different, if your skin is particularly dry, it may be responding particularly well to a particular moisturiser. Often the simpler the better, and many baby products are often fragrance and additive free (but not always!)

I have to agree with the Baby products being more gentle. I've tried lots of lotions, creams and ointments to moisturize but when my hands and fingers are cracking and peeling even the fragrance free ones sting like crazy. I'm using one by Gerber brand now called Grins and Giggles and even the fragranced ones don't sting as much. I tried the Huggies lotions (by Kimberly Clark) and while the lotion is very moisturizing, it still burns a bit more than the Grins and Giggles. The baby products aren't greasy or heavy so you have to put them on more often, but it's inexpensive and well worth carrying a little sample bottle with me everywhere.

Yes, often a sorbolene product works well too as the ingredients are very simple and often no additives at all. Large buttles are also very cheap!

hello there cobba. i tried baby oils, but found they were too oily and inconvient because the oil rubbed off on my work clothes. pitty, wish they had less oily baby oil  because that would be perfect. I found olive oil a good substitute as its a little thicker and does not rub off as easily as baby oil, but i only put it on at night now because my clothes were getting wrecked by oil stains.
