Hi to all,
I'm Emma from Perth Australia and am on this site on behalf of my brother. He is 43 and has lived/suffered with Psoriasis for 20 years +. He has had it from head to toe majority of his life. His Psoriasis in appearance was very scaly, very red, aggressive and 'clumps' of white dried skin all over his body.....until recently. He has tried all sorts of treatments including; Topical..T-Gel shampoo, ph friendly lotions for hair and skin, Billy goat soap to name but a few. All of these were to minimal (slight relief) to no avail. He did at one stage visit a Chinese herbalist in Melbourne who specialised in Psoriasis, he was "prescribed" a myriad of natural herbs contained in a large tea bag which he took daily. (Same way you make a cup of tea). I am not sure of the ingredients or the cost but can try to find out if anyone may be interested. Again, i am not sure how long it took, but this treatment did get rid of all the Psoriasis. I think he then became complacent, stopped treatment and the Psoriasis did return.
He moved from Melbourne to Perth this year (2009) and started on a radical treatment (around May) which involved the following; Tablets called Acitretin (Neotigason) taken daily, Light treatment 2 x weekly and Elecon cream used daily over affected areas (15mg tubes, initially used 2 -3 tubes for one application). Before he could start this treatment he had to go for blood tests to see if his liver was healthy and it could cope with the medication. All tests were positive and he started treatment..........So...within the first month the red aggressive Psoriasis cleared, changed to a 'dull' red, his skin was actually smooth a definate change within himself. Acouple of months later, back for more blood tests to ensure his liver etc was coping okay with medication, again, all good, continues treatment. So we are now 5 months into treatment and the outcome...All Psoriasis has gone, except he still has flaky scalp. He can certainly live with that. On the downside, he has just this week been for more blood tests and they show he is now suffering from liver damage. To what extent we don't know as he now has to go for an ultrasound. That will happen next week.

I hope that the Liver damage isn't to serious. I would be interested in what may have been in the Chinese herbal mix.
